Range of motion, control and technique
Your range of motion should be full and controlled within a tolerable range. Cutting it short just to move more weight makes real comparison impossible.
What the evidence says
- Use a depth and position you can repeat every time.
- You don't need to move deliberately slow, but you do need to control the load.
- Joint pain is not a sign of a stronger stimulus.
How to apply it today
Film a set from the side and compare your first and last rep. If the range of motion changes, the load isn't dialed in yet.
